Steven Stalzer, an Acton police officer, and veteran, was placed on paid administrative leave after getting arrested in Stow on Saturday, April 29, according to a statement by Acton Interim Police Chief James Cogan.
The officer was charged with domestic assault and battery and assault and battery on a pregnant person. He allegedly pushed his wife, who is five months pregnant, to the ground during an argument inside their shared home in Stow.
Stalzer's license to carry weapons was suspended, and his badge and service gun were taken. His personal firearms were taken from his home "for safekeeping," as per procedure when an officer's license to carry has been suspended, according to the Acton Police.
Stalzer has been on the Acton police force for eight years.
Stalzer was arraigned on Monday, May 1 in Concord District Court and released on personal recognizance ordered to not abuse the victim and to surrender all weapons, including firearms.
